Who is J. Allen Cunningham?

Born in 1977 just three days after the release of Star Wars, Cunningham grew up with fantasy and science fiction at a time when it began to grow in popularity. His love of heroic journeys began with that very film, as well as many others seen in his youth.

Like any kid in the 80s, Cunningham fell in love with video games. Starting with the Atari and then Nintendo on it was the obsession with discovering alternate worlds and saving unknown kingdoms. But, it wasn’t until his college years, that he discovered his true passion: role playing games.

After some experience with tabletop games and video game fantasies, a story came to mind. Built on some of the old campaigns he and old friends used to play some of which still live on in several characters in the series.

While his personal life did not lead to professional accolades and success, it was this story that persisted, like an itch unscratched. After finding the second half of his epic story, he began to work in earnest to grow it into The Trials of Andoria, the first of several series based around this foundation.

He lives in Virginia with his wife and family of cats and dogs and works in customer service. He describes himself as normal, like everyone else, but weird, like anyone else. He’s been published in The Writers’ Journal twice and in the RPG Zine, an online gaming blog publication. As his career grows, he hopes to share more of this world and many others he has kindled over the years.
