Author’s Update
Hello fellows in arms! I wanted to stop and give a quick update. It has been slow going, being one adrift in the sea of people of this world, let alone those who self-publish, is hard to stand out in. For those who have stumbled or who were led here by way of my meager attempt at ads, I thank you.
Things are still progressing according to plan. The next installment, The Darkest Knight, is set to drop in November. I am at this moment editing it and prepping it for its final copy. At the same time, I am beginning two other series in relation to our favorite heroes (and villains), so there’s a lot in the cooker.
I know that there is doubt in some who might be particular, especially since there is such amateurish content here. I assure you, my passion for this story is not represented the best. Were I able to empty deep pockets, this would have been such a different start to this adventure.
I can promise you this, you will love this story. Its not fantasy like you expect it. For some in the genre, its a matter of deep lore, Tolkien-esque description of the world. For others, its a matter of more romantic fare. I am not using fantasy as a genre in the same way. I want there to be empty spots, because in real life, we don’t always know (or have time to Google) and know things and discover things all the time, as you will as a fellow party member and read these.
What my series is really boils down to a coming of age, or perhaps better said a refining of age story of a group of people who rediscover, redraw, and reinvent themselves in the heroic forms they become at the end. Its not so much about the fantasy, here, the elements of the genre are backdrops to the story of love, family, acceptance, determination, and redemption.
So, I request those who would stumble upon this message to give the series a chance. Darkness Calling is what critics would say, very bland and true to fantasy tropes. Those are intended to be the basis, the anchor point. What takes place in the following six volumes of this opera reaches beyond those tropes to familiar places that will scratch the reality of our real world.
And that, of course, is intended.
