Bertrand Arramor
Until fifty years ago, Bertrand served as the premier assassin of Tartus, the world renown and infamous thieves’ guild based in Tarryton. For nearly a century, he darted across the world to accomplish every one of his assigned marks. But in the years leading up to fifty years ago, the bodies added up, and it started to weigh on his soul. In an effort to leave the guild and distance himself from that life, he took a final, high-reward assassination, which went horribly sour. Afterward, he slinked into the shadows, going silent to allow his past to fade into people’s memories. But after a tragic incident, he was forced to return to the craft, but this time only taking jobs for those who he deemed justified in dying, even if in as cowardly a way as an unfeeling arrow.
Returning to Briee, he came into contact with a fleeing half-orc who was chased by two wizards in a remote forest in southern Briee. After dispatching them, he and the beast strike up an uncanny friendship, and feeling sorry for the torture that he endured, he promised to help him find his clan and his mother once they left the continent. Built on trust and a connection through similar emotional trauma, they both serve as physical defenses to each other, but also emotional support. Derringer confided in Bertrand the horrors he endured by his mage captors. Bertrand trusted him with some of his painful past.
