Knights of Briee
Kingdoms in Andoria differ in how they treat their governance. For example, Eras Arandor humans have adopted a regional ruler format that has a set of those from each city on a counsel that determines their future. For Briee, they still rely on old-fashioned royal rule. As such, an organized force of knights defends and protects the kingdom. Below are each of their steps to full knighthood.
- Initiate: At age 13, anyone can attempt to be an initiate. They are mere shadow squires, not allowed to participate in swordplay or even hold weapons. They, like magicians, are merely to watch for a year before earning any further advancements.
- Squire: Official title of one who is learning to be a guardsman and knight. They are hopefuls who assist the knight in everything from dressing to preparation for battle, keeping up with weapons, and providing resources like food and water.
- Royal Guard: Similarly, squires can enter the Royal Guard and serve while awaiting a knight to be assigned to. They are not given the title of Sir or Knight until a quest can be completed and their liege grants them the title. Often, squires and guards are interchangeable as there are not very many knights in Briee and squires have to wait their turn.
- Knight: The top tier of the order. These are the most noble and steadfast of the ranks, those closely tied to Orthaos and whom have the most steadfast devotion to the welfare of all. Their code teaches them temperance, wisdom, compassion, truth, justice and above all else honor for their liege and kingdom. Only those who closely adhere to this code are given a chance for knighthood.
- Paladin Knight: An old-fashioned title not held by anyone in Briee for centuries. It regards a Knight of such impeccable distinction that they are often considered negatively because of how strict to the code and to the dogma of Orthaos’ religion they are. Though there have been no Paladins on Andoria ages, it is the dream of most knights to attain this title and bring their relevance back to the world.
